PASSIVE TRADITIONALISTS (21%)
The Passive Traditionalists are more women than men and they are more likely to have low education and low income, to live in the rural environment or to be at their first generation in the urban environment.
The Passive Traditionalists are highly anchored in traditional values. They live simple and natural and they are not very demanding from life. Education and sophistication are rejected, while culture is considered not to bring much value to their life.
The family is the central point in their life. Their main purpose in life is to have a strong family, to raise their children and see them at their homes. The roles within the family are very clearly defined. Husband is the pillar of the family, the one who has to provide the leaving means for the family. Wife is the one who makes the house chores and take care of the children. The children should be obedient, listen to their parents and perpetuate the family good name.
They are modest, not interested very much in their appearance. Fashion and style are somehow very far, clothing having mainly the basic role of defending them from weather.
The paid work is a source of stress and dissatisfaction. The Passive Traditionalists feel uncertain about their job, but they simply take no action for improving their situation. In a way, the job is just a secondary source of living, a way of obtaining some money for the things that cannot be done in home. After all, struggling for improving their economic status is not their primary source of concern.
The change is perceived as a supplementary stress generator. The Passive Traditionalists would like to return to a simpler life with clear standards and well-defined set of values. This is one of the reasons for showing nostalgia towards the old times (communist period) when everything was predictable and well established.
The Passive Traditionalists are overall satisfied with their present life (although they have important concerns) but the future is perceived as a threat and dissatisfaction generator.
